We made it!!

First Day of School

It feels like the first day of school. You know the day. When you pick out your clothes the night before and can't get to sleep because you are so excited for tomorrow to come. Butterflies in our stomach to say the least.

We are headed to see Jake. To see how his night was. To chit chat with the doctors on his progress. We will have the car seat close by. Ready. Are we ready? Can't say. We feel ready. Still have to pickup diapers. And the rollershade for his window was ordered last night.

Keep your fingers crossed. I know mine are.

April 14

Here's a pic of Jake and Mommy. They enjoyed a great day together and the day pass is still being planned for tomorrow. We can't wait to show him around his home. Another day of good glucose levels, in the 5 and 6's.

Proud Mommy!

A quiet moment

Out for a stroll

Day trippin'

Mommy just found out that if Jake does well feeding today, we get a day pass tomorrow. Woohoo.

Time to clean the house for our new arrival. :)

Jake and friends

Even though he hasn't been home, Jake has met a few friends already.

Jake and friends.

April 13 - early edition

Jake had a good night, with no spitting up, glucoses of 6 and 4.4. This makes mommy and daddy very happy. The nurse has suggested a change in his feeding routine to let him get more rest. The new feeding routine would correlate better with his 6am, 2pm and 10pm medication times. We'll have to wait and see what the docs think.

April 12

Jake has been putting up good glucose levels but still having trouble with feeding. We thought that we had that under control but in the last 24 hours he has been having spit up problems. Target date for taking him home was to be friday but until the feeding issues are resolved he will not be released.

We are still talking about getting a 12 hour go-home pass to ease with the transition. We wanted to spend a night with him at CHEO, but now that Daddy has caught a cold, that's not that easy.

Met with our pediatrician today for the first time. It was a nice visit. Makes us feel good she knows the teams at CHEO.

Yeah, so daddy caught a cold. That really sucks. Didn't get to see my boy today. Mommy said he was looking good. Still cuddly as ever.

Latest update, took the whole bottle, no vomitting, glucose 4.3... sleeping.

Jake

Jake. Jake Roger Steele. Née Feb 8th at 4pm. What a glorious day. Mommy and Daddy were so pleased to see his little face.
Fast forward to April 12th, Jake is still in hospital. Hyperinsulinism is what the doctors are calling it. A very rare condition. Could be genetic, don't know that yet.
Sure doesn't look sick...

Having a moment with daddy.
